Your donation supports students and residents like Victoria - young people who aim to pursue their dreams, achieve success in college and career, and set down roots in Stockton to build a stronger future.
A recent Edison High School graduate and one of the inaugural recipients of the Roses from Concrete award, Victoria is the daughter of immigrants and a first-generation college student. While her family always encouraged her to succeed, Victoria had to teach herself about the importance of education and how to navigate the transition from high school to college. Growing up, she says that "much of our time was spent trying to feed our families and earn enough money to live in a home," but that through staying focused on her studies she has been able to develop critical thinking skills and a broader vision for her future.
Through the support of Stockton Scholars, she is pursuing a transfer pathway at San Joaquin Delta College and looks forward to becoming a teacher after graduation.
Reinvent Stockton is dedicated to supporting students in their pursuit of higher education and supporting innovative ways to address poverty and violent crime. We directly run the Stockton Scholars and support three independent but aligned non-profit projects, SEED, Stockton Service Corps, and Advance Peace.
